“He said my time with him was disrupting.”
|
Dear Friends,
|
I recently met with a friend who served a few summers with us as camp staff. It has been several years, and this friend has gone through some hard circumstances. After catching up for a bit in conversation, I took a step of faith, and with grace, I asked a deeper question about his faith and life with God
This is where he opened up about some of the hard moments from the past. A few years ago, he started to question his faith because he felt pressured at different times to follow God. As he wrestled with these feelings, he started to believe that what he had learned about God might not be true. He began to think we can’t really know God, therefore he determined we must be free to decide for ourselves what is right and wrong.

A decade ago, this friend was trying to follow God and live for Him. Today, he is trying to experience meaning and purpose apart from God. I took time to listen, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and respond with curiosity to understand his journey more. In the end, he asked me a question that led to a really good conversation about our need to experience the gospel. I explained that experiencing the gospel means experiencing unconditional love, it is receiving grace when we least deserve it, it is having someone make a sacrifice for you, and so much more.
It is so important to teach and share the gospel, and it is equally important to experience the gospel. Near the end, he said my time with him was disrupting. He meant it in a good way. Praise God!
This is what we believe God wants to do with you and us together, to disrupt the world with the good news of the Gospel. You are in our prayers! We are so thankful for you!
In Christ's love,
